Apple Coconut Kheer is one simple dessert to make in the microwave and gets done in no time!
I had another recipe in my for today but we surely need to have some sweets to celebrate Hitchy’s interview at Blogadda…. what say guys? Hitchy you rock and you know that… So here’s Apple Coconut Kheer for you;)
Apple kheer is supposed to be an offering which is made for Lord Shiva during Mahashivratri, especially in Andhra Pradesh. It is basically a twist to the usual kheer, but the addition of apple just takes the taste to another level! And then I added some coconut to it, which means, it sure is super delicious 🙂
Coconut is really so healthy. Its great for the hair and amazing for the skin. It is supposed to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is highly nutritious, rich in fiber and packed with vitamins and minerals. While tender coconut water is a great cooling agent, it is also low in calories, carbohydrates and sugars. Coconut oil is also very healthy, it is a saturated fat and is very stable at high heat! After I have moved to Bangalore, I have started incorporating a lot of coconut in my cooking! Guess being married to a South Indian also helps 🙂
It is amazing how we have so many variations to the same dish in every part of India. I have realised that kheer is omnipresent in India 🙂 Any part of the country you go, and you have some version of the kheer or another! In fact, every state in India has so many variations of the kheer!
Coming back to the recipe, since I made it in the microwave, some tips when you make it:
- keep stirring in between to prevent overflow.
- Use a big bowl to prevent the milk from overflowing.
Talking about apples, have you checked out the recipe to this Apple Chocolate Clafouti yet?
