Club Mahindra Corbett – Something for everyone

Club Mahindra Corbett National Park is a lovely resort located by the river. Good food, great family games and a national park so close. It has something for everyone as a holiday destination.

Corbett National Park has been on my list of places to take Ojas to from a while. And when Club Mahindra Corbett sent us a family holiday invite in January, it just seemed perfect. Our yearly winter Delhi trip was due as well and it was a perfect time to combine both.

BBQ Bay Corbett

We had a great three days at the resort. And I think one of the best things about Club Mahindra is that there is always something for everyone. Whether it is the kids, the fun-loving adults or the food lovers. The resorts don’t disappoint you. So let’s cover all things here.

The Food at Club Mahindra Corbett

All things square and fair, food is always a deal breaker for me. I travel for food and even if the vacation is not a food vacation, I hate staying at places which don’t have good food.

Club Mahindra Corbett has broadly two eating options – the coffee shop and a specialty restaurant Barbeque Bay. Barbeque bay is somewhat similar to BBQ nation in concept. The grill is placed on your table and the pre-grilled stuff is bought and put on it to warm up. You can grease it and play around to get the feeling of BBQing your food at the table. The concept is always a hit with almost everyone I have spoken to and it was no different in Corbett. The kababs and grills were really flavourful and I think one of the food that stood out for me was the kabab sizzler, melt in mouth vegetarian and mutton kabab served on a sizzling platter. Both I and the man couldn’t get enough of it.

Barbeque Bay currently is the most sought-after restaurant in the Corbett region I am told and I am honestly not surprised at all. Even the mains and dessert were fabulous. The meal at Barbeque was a hugely satisfying meal and the only thing I missed was a glass of beer.

The coffee shop has your typical resort food but in an upgrade. If there are enough guests, a buffet is set out at meal times. And the variety in the buffet is pretty good. The dishes are a mix of local food, regular north Indian daal-sabji-roti and some specials for kids. There is a live counter always making the special of the day which seemed to be the hot favorite at every meal.

But what really stood out for me in the buffet was the attention to the pickles. I love pickles and chutneys and N teases me that sometimes I love them more than the main food. And the folks at Club Mahindra did a stellar job in selecting and keeping a wide variety of them. I was so happy seeing the variety of pickles in their buffet, that I made a plate with only them. Grabbed some bread and papads and happily tasted all of them.

I love places which make an effort to keep the local food alive. Places which serve local meals, in spite of 80% of the crowd wanting butter chicken and pizza. Club Mahindra Corbett has a delicious Kumaoni thaali on request. The thaali consists of kumaoni shikar ka jhol (Kumoani mutton curry), Jhurmur ka murg jhol (chicken curry), Palak ka Kappa (mountain spinach curry), Chinsoo (roasted lentil gravy), Maswani, Bhatt ki Churkani, Mandua (ragi) ki roti, Pahadi kheere ka raita, Arsa, Jhangore Ki Kheer.

All in all the food at the resort left me very happy and satisfied and it takes a lot for me to say that.

The rooms at Club Mahindra Corbett

The rooms available for non-members though basic are very comfortable. The toilet, balcony, and bed are well designed for suitably relaxing. The room service and housekeeping were on point and we didn’t have a reason to complain.

Fun Zone and Adventure activities at Club Mahindra Corbett

Like I said at the start of the post, one of the major advantages of Club Mahindra is the variety of things one can do. After I reached the property, I literally didn’t have to worry about O. He always found something or the other to do while I snoozed or read a book at the poolside.

He spent half a day doing all the adventure activities there and wanted to do them again in the evening. Funzone which had the pool table, TT table, air hockey, car race simulator and this is where we spent a lot of family time. Playing various games and having fun.

Of course, there is Corbett National Park and one must do a safari there. Read this post on our safari experience.
