B is for Bread 101

B is for Bread 101! A post which gives tips and tricks on baking bread! “Bread is the king of the table and all else is merely the court that surrounds the king. The countries are the soup, the meat, the vegetables, the salad but bread is king.” Louis Bromfield, American novelist  (1896-1956) Breads is one of my most favorite things to make. I love working with them, kneading, shaping and proofing gives me joy beyond measure.  So B had to be breads here, though I did take a poll on FB, if … [Read more...]

A recap of our amazing Bake With Me - Baking Workshop! And finally Sin-A-Mon takes another big step, a step towards the dreams getting fulfilled. Yes, we held our first commercial baking workshop. Delicious garlic pull apart buns which are so tasty that no one can stop eating at one! The flavorful buns are perfect for any meal! I have an eternal love with yeast, I love baking breads. And this garlic pull apart buns are proof to that :)   Bread baking for me is the kneading involved and the yeasty smell that overpowers the house when its baking. This is one of the recipes that has been lying in my drafts from a very long time, Sometime back, I did a low carb diet (i.e no cereals, loads of protein rich stuff and veggies) and was looking out for recipes which would comply with it. Mix Veg Bread Roll

A delicious evening snacks idea! These fantastic mix veg bread roll is pan roasted and oh-so-yummy! I love mix veg bread roll, especially the sinful deep fried ones but I don’t make them at home because of my aversion to deep frying stuff.   So, when I saw this shallow frying pan roasting way of making rolls in one of the blogs (I have even forgotten which one), I was delighted. Palak Chutney

Palak Chutney is one of those accompaniments which tastes amazing with dosas and paranthas! Delicious and amazing! I love various forms of chutneys with dosas, idli and even paranthas :) So, I am always in search of good recipes. Also, since I am dieting (at least trying to eat sensible) and MIL has high cholesterol, the standard coconut and peanut chutneys are made very rarely in our house. So, I chanced upon palak chutney recipe in Sanjeev Kapoor's Rice, Bread & Pickles. I was almost … [Read more...]

Meal in a box – Pasta

A pasta with some lentils and vegetables and cheese, of course! Perfect for dinner or for the lunchbox! Ojas is a very picky eater, very choosy about what he eats and even if he likes something, he eats it very less. But one thing that he really likes eating is pasta (a big kala tikka and touchwood here).     So I try and make it very often and also try and make it as healthy as possible. This one is one of my own creations that comes out really yummy and is highly … [Read more...]
