Warm Rum Cocktail For A Cold Winter Night

This warm rum cocktail is something my dad used to make on cold winter evenings in Delhi. I got the recipe from him and it remains one of my cherished ones!

Warm Rum cocktail to warm you up on a cold winter night. And what is not to love about rum cocktails when you are shivering in the cold!

Some days ago I saw Nandita post a warm toddy like drink at TOIT. My memories were taken back to childhood when dad would make a similar drink during cold months of winter, when it would be too cold for whiskey on the rocks or having any alchoholic drink with chilled soda. On a cold winter evening he would make this to feel all warmed up. Then many years later when I went back home in Delhi winters, he made this for me and I have to say it is so soothing. That time I didn’t bother to check with him on what and how much he put but Nandita’s instagram picture suddenly had me yearning for my dad’s drink. So I called him and got this recipe. Four days and this has been a regular at home. I passed on the recipe to a tleast three more friends, one of whom is scolding me on why I didn’t tell her this before.

While there are many other ways one can warm up on winter nights, (have haldi milk or hot chocolate), this is one way to feel all fuzzy and warmed up especially on a weekend night, when you have nothing pressing to do the next day morning!

So sharing it with everyone, winter is just round the corner. Make this on a cold evening and curl up in bed with a book!

Course drink
Cuisine punjabi
Servings 2 serving

Ingredients

  • 120 ml Dark Rum
  • 2 tsps honey
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper Powder
  • 300 ml apple juice

Instructions

  • Warm the apple juice in microwave for 1 minute.
  • Mix all the ingredients together, stir and serve warm

Notes

Notes : My dad is a true Punjabi, he doesn't do small drinks and I am his daughter 😉 but feel free to reduce the rum in it. 30 ml or small peg per person works as well!
Also dark rum = old monk for me, nothing can ever replace that but I recently also tried Amrut dark rum which is very good. So take your pick!
