A Staycation at Double Tree Suites by Hilton, Bangalore

What we love to do best for occasions like anniversaries and birthdays is typically travel. Make a short or a long trip depending on the time we have had on hand. Be it a short road trip or a longish trip but a holiday is what we think first when we think celebrations. Yes we are weird like that. This Staycation at Double Tree Suites By Hilton was amazing to say the least!

Like you all know, we love travelling. Travel has always been a way of celebrating milestones – but this time during our anniversary we both were loaded with work and just unable to take off, the whole thought was depressing and irritating us till we thought why not a staycation – a few calls later, we had settled on Double Tree Suites by Hilton. I think I am in love with the idea of a staycation in general.

Go check in, and chill out. There is no pressure to go explore the city or do something interesting. Just plain relaxing and oh god two words – ROOM SERVICE!

Cookies at Double Tree Suites, Hilton
The trademark cookies of DoubleTree. They believe in welcoming the tired traveller with the comfort of a warm cookie. And I think the idea is just FAB

Double Tree by Hilton by is situated at the busy Sarjapur road and outer ring road junction and the views from their infinity pool and terrace restaurant are just FAB. Gives you a feel of how the landscape of Bangalore is changing.

Our dinner table at the poolside

We had dinner at the poolside with these views and some good food. The only problem is that they don’t have a kitchen on the terrace and owing to Bangalore weather the food tends to get cold by the time it reaches you but I still think the views and the peace makes it worth it.

Smoked Salmon bruschetta and a small anniversary wish pastry. A very good red velvet cake

There is something about not worrying about an alarm, not worrying about getting up and making the first cup of tea. I slept like a log that night and this is when I usually take atleast one night to get comfortable in a new bed. I am thinking I must do a stayaction once a quarter 😉

Breakfast : my options from a well curated Breakfast buffet

Post breakfast we spent the day doing nothing much apart from chilling by the pool side and jacuzzi. Reading a book and doing nothing. It really was just what the doctor ordered.

The hotel essentially has two restaurants – Asia Alive, the all day dining and the bar Equinox. Asia Alive runs a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner but we decided to do al-a-carte. I am not a huge fan of buffets and do them only when I have no other choice really.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food that came to our table. Clean, brilliant flavours and good plating.

basa at double tree
The dreaded basa in an acceptable form. Grilled with a rub of black pepper and black sesame. The flavours were really nice and earthy
hara bhara kabab
Hara bhara kabab. Just how cute is the serving of the chutney in carved cucumber
chicken fry and uttapams
Chettinad style chicken fry served with mini uttapams. Brilliant idea and flavours
dal chawal at double tree
Child picked up dal chawal and aloo from the buffet and man that aloo was FAB

The Double Tree team concluded our stay there will this gorgeous and delicious cake. We came back home happy, content and charged up and what made it extra special was how the team pampered us. Like I said I have a new resolve to do more stayactions. I am completely sold on the idea 100%
