Luncheon At Edo – The Obento Experience

One of my favourite restaurants in Bangalore and probably the only place I turn to for Japanese food is now open for lunch. Hurray ! Time to celebrate with the Obento Experience. A set lunch, a sake bomb and we have a perfect Luncheon At Edo! A meal at Edo (located in ITC Gardenia) always leaves me happy and satisfied. A meal at Edo is one which is a treat to all senses and still satisfies the soul with some great food. The kaiseki meal at Edo a few years ago still holds it's place in my top 10 … [Read more...]

Station Walle Aloo | How to make Station Walle Aloo

Station Walle Aloo is the perfect potato gravy to be eaten with Bedmi pooris, kachoris or even lacha parantha. This is the recipe where your search for that perfect aloo ki sabji ends. Who doesn't like a good aloo ki sabji. I am yet to meet a person who would say I don't like aloo (ok I do need one person but then that doesn't count). And most of us have grown up with fond memories of that lovely aloo ki sabji that mum used to make but for me the strongest aloo ki sabji memories are the one … [Read more...]

Ghughni inspired lehsuni cholia

Ghughni inspired lehsuni cholia an easy & delicious recipe. One that can be eaten on it’s own, with a roti and raita as a meal, with evening cup of chai as snack and well since I am writing this post with a glass of beer as well. Ghughni inspired lehsuni cholia was born as a result of me standing in front of the gas with a set of ingredients, ready to make lunch with no clue what I am going to do with it. I often have days like this (yes inspite of being anal about having a weekly menu … [Read more...]

Strawberry, Lettuce & Feta Cheese Salad

This Strawberry Lettuce Feta Cheese Salad is perfect for Valentines or anytime you want to have a romantic sit down meal. Love is in the air and there is no other food that feels more perfect that strawberry to celebrate love. Think of that scene from Pretty Woman (which BTW is my top most romantic movie ever). Olive & Spring Onion Cheesy Dip

Olive, Spring Onion & lots of cheese. What's not to love. And if that wasn't enough the dip doubles up as a sandwich filling too. When it comes to parties or generally sit down dinners, I love serving as many varieties of dishes as possible, given my love and penchant for food :D. I love how people pass the food around, how people finally zero in on that one dish of the day that passed their expectations, the whole atmosphere that having good food brings out in people. And the dishes I … [Read more...]

What’s New @ Raj Pavilion, ITC Windsor

ITC Windsor was probably one of the first 5-star hotels I bought a meal by myself in Bangalore. 15 years ago, with an almost fresher level salary and new in Bangalore. It was a delightful meal (so what if it was the lunch buffet) and Raj Pavilion will always hold a special place in my heart for that. And like my friends Swaps said Raj Pavilion at ITC Windsor acts like a giant lightbox making everything look better and the pictures gorgeous. A little more than a month and a half ago I was … [Read more...]

Of Missing Dad, Lighting Pyre & other random thoughts

It has been 13 days since it all fell apart. 13 days since I remember taking a cold water shower in Delhi winter, water pricking my skin and sealing the emotions in a way. Making my heart and body harden for what I had to bear in the coming week. As I let the cold water sit on my skin and wore the crisp white mens kurta pajama to bid dad goodbye to finally let his body go, I realised that I was shaking and not just from the cold. The thought that I had to actually light fire to the … [Read more...]
