The Frying Pan is an app with plagiarism and it is astonishing the way they have taken content from blogs without permission!
As a blogger, plagiarism and theft of images and recipes is not new to me. My images, recipes, content has been stolen more times than I can count. But more often than not, it is either an extremely lazy person who does this, or someone who doesn’t really know that taking images from google is NOT the way to acquire images or it is a media agency who wants to save a quick buck on photography.
Even in my long and suffering social media presence, this kind of theft is new to me. The app “The Frying Pan” has taken 145 RECIPES my blog, along with pictures WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. In fact the whole app is based on collecting recipes and pictures from various bloggers and THEY DON’T HAVE PERMISSION FROM ANYONE.
Last I read the stats were –
145 from Monika (http://www.sinamontales.com/)
115 from Deeba (/ www.passionateaboutbaking.com /)
434 from Hari (/ www.blendwithspices.com / )
166 from Sia (/ http://monsoonspice.com/)
805 from Dassana (/ vegrecipesofindia.com)
695 from Preeti (http://www.jopreetskitchen.com/ /)
1000 + from Archana (/ www.archanaskitchen.com / )
At this point I stopped counting but there are recipes from Neha (http://www.whiskaffair.com/ ) Nandita (http://www.saffrontrail.com/), Richa (www.myfoodstory.com) among many others.
If you are a blogger I urge you to look into the app, I am 90% sure you will find your recipes there.
I am really at loss world, I normally prefer to sort these things one to one and don’t make a public post on it. But this time the company and it’s founders Priyanka Jain and Naveen Rathee have left me with no choice but to take this step. I contacted them yesterday, requesting to either take down the recipes or compensate us and about half an hour ago he has sent me an arrogant message saying “I must be patient with him”
For us it is years of hard work and he is happy to cash on it in a few days. I have decided to take legal action but I had to call him out here since I am still not able to believe that such a well planned and thought through robbery can exist. Look at the snapshots below and decide for yourself.
If you want to help us in this battle please share this post widely and report the app in play store as copyright infringement. Read how to report an app here –

I fail to understand why people do such kind of things! It is ok if somebody follows one’s recipe but it is unacceptable if somebody copy someone’s image and recipe without prior permission. It also happened with me few moths back … in a Bengali magazine image of one of my fish recipe was printed … little I could do! When I talked to the Editor she just said “I’ll look into it and will revert back” but till date no reply from her end…

I’m so grateful to you for making this post because this nonsense has got to stop, and unless we bloggers take a stand it will continue unchecked. It happens with us fashion and lifestyle bloggers too but unfortunately we tend not to be as united as you guys. This happened to me recently – while I don’t post recipes, I do a lot of food reviews and my review of Beer Week Gurgaon was blatantly copy-pasted. The more we name and shame these despicable people the better it’ll be for the blogging community. Then no one will be able to take us for granted anymore.
