Quick cooking : Palak Chicken

With the goodness and the deliciousness of palak and protein of chicken,  this palak chicken recipe is a keeper for sure!

  • 400 gms palak (spinach)
  • 400 gms chicken
  • 2 onion medium sized chopped
  • 2 tomatoes large chopped
  • 3 - 4 green chillies (depending on how much spice you can handle)
  • 6 pods garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 2 Clove
  • 4 black pepper Whole
  • 1 bay leaves
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Chicken curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsps cooking oil


  • Wash, chop and puree the spinach. Make sure you wash it well since you don't want even a bit of dirt left in them.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker and when it begins to heat, add jeera. After it browns a bit add all the whole spices and fry for another minute or so.
  • Add onions and fry till they brown.
  • Add tomatoes and fry till they leave oil. Now add all the dry ground masalas and fry for another minute.
  • Add the palak puree and let it boil for about 4-5 minutes.
  • Add chicken and a little water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  • Serve hot with paranthas, rice or dosa. The child loves to eat this with a spoonful of warm ghee.
