My experience at The Biere Club Chophouse’s Food Lovers Gourmet City!
I will begin the post by admitting I love love love The Biere Club and also Chophouse. The food is outstanding and no pretend just as it should be. Full of flavour and everything cooked to the extent that it should be. I love the beers at The Biere Club. I haven’t checked out the Arbor Brewing company but apart from that, I think the best handcrafted beers in Bangalore are certainly at The Biere Club.
I went there again two days ago, as a part of the “Food Lovers Gourmet City” Event, which is running from the 15th -31st of March, where 31 of the city’s restaurants have prix fixe menus featuring their best dishes for you to try. More details on their website and FB Page
We started with breads and the soup of the day which was Tomato Basil and chicken and I have not had such a lovely tomato soup in a long long time. The tart tomatoes, no sweeteners added, this was a tomato soup which finally tasted of tomatoes and not tomato ketchup.
For the appetizers, I ordered a prawn cocktail, a standard favorite with me but something most places in Bangalore don’t seem to get right. The dip had a fab punch to it, the spice hits you first followed by a little sweetness and a just the right amount of tanginess. Perfect balance of flavours.
My fellow diners ordered Grilled Peppered Pear, Rocket and Blue Cheese salad. I loved the grilled pear and I think grilled pear and blue cheese is such a lovely combo that I don’t think anything could have wrong there, if it was mine, I think I would have licked the plate clean 🙂
The other appetizer that we all loved was The Bubbling Baked Camembert aloft Roast Tomatoes and Mixed Leaves. It looked like a dream and tasted even better. I think I have to pick up the top two appetizers for that day – it would be the prawn cocktail and the bubbling baked camembret.
We also tried Chicken and Cherry Tomato Skewers with Honey Mustard Salad, it was a good dish but somehow in front of the ones above, paled a bit.
Our fab beers for the day!
After being so happy with the appetizers, my expectations from the mains were really sky high and I thought it was a tough challenge to match up to. But my God, they did get an exceeded expectations there too. I ordered The Lobster Thermidor, which was off the shell and doused in Dijon Mustard and enjoyed every morsel of it. Delectable, rightly cooked and in the main menu too. Priced at INR 640, I think its a steal.
And here is the point, I love dining with fellow foodies, we always discuss what to do and make sure we get to taste most of the interesting stuff. Natasha ordered the other dish I was eyeing. Crumb Fried Chicken Breast oozing with Blue Cheese Butter, Wilted Spinach and Mash and boy, that blue cheese butter was really good. I also liked the fact that the crumbing of the fried chicken breast was just perfectly done.
Ruth ordered 6oz Grilled Beef Tenderloin, Fries, Onion Marmalade, Grilled Tomatoes And Fried Egg and the thing that stood out the most in this for me was the Onion Marmalade.
What I also liked a lot about this was the fact that the portions were just right, we were happy, full and yet had that little space for yes you guessed it right “DESSERT”. We ordered all four of them 🙂 The British Banoffey Pie, Knickerbocker Glory, Sticky Date, Coffee And Toffee Pudding With Vanilla Ice Cream, Warm Chocolate Stodge Cake. All of the desserts were spot on too. A perfect end to a perfect meal though they are a bigger in serving than the mains 😉
Knickerbocker Glory – so pretty isn’t it?
