Sunday Brunch at MCafe, Marriott Whitefield. Lovely place to spend a chilled afternoon with friends and there is place for kids to enjoy themselves too!
Ever since I had heard about The Marriott opening in Bangalore I had waited for it, especially the MCafe. I love the general feel of Marriott and the warmth that seems to extend in everything they do. N always says if he stays at Marriott, it feels like staying at a home away from your home. He remembers this one time and keeps talking about it again and again on how he had got a mild eye infection while he was staying at Marriott, Hyderabad and the person at the reception spotted it. He checked on him an hour later, arranged for a doctor and even the manager came for rounds. He says he was so well taken care of during that time that someone even came to put drops in his eyes every few hours for the two days the infection lasted. I guess these are the things that make a lot of difference, specially for people like my man who travel so extensively.
We were invited to sample the Sunday brunch at the MCafe a while ago and going by the love N has for Marriott, I simply didn’t have a reason to say no.
The first thing you notice when you enter the hotel is the strict security. Unlike the other hotels/malls, the people there seem to know what they need to check and oh they have such handsome looking sniffer dogs. As soon as we entered the building inside, I knew where the child is gonna spend most of his time. There was a bouncing castle and it is something O loves to bits (well which child doesn’t) and he had company too that day in A (Ruth’s daughter). There were also some more activities for the kids like tattoos, balloon art etc.
We started our brunch/lunch (since we started at 1 and also since I didn’t see many of breakfast items on the menu I think its fair to call is Sunday lunch IMHO). Ruth and Sudhakar were already there and had started on their bubbly, I ordered a mojito and N settled with a beer.
With drinks in place, kids happily playing with each other, we turned our attention to what we had come for. The food! It was served in a typical buffet but what was different was the fact that there was customization possible at each level. Typically, the live counters in the buffets are pastas and may be pizzas. Here you could actually make a pasta, pizza, sandwich, assemble your own salad, make your own soup and noodle bowl, get yourself the grills you wanted and sushi counter too. For me, the customization was the highlight of the afternoon.
Pepperoni and cheese wood fire pizza for the kids and did I tell you the only time we had kids on the table was the time we had to drag them to eat and there was always someone looking after them. Another big highlight for me!
With some yummy cold cuts!
The buffet also had a wide range of Indian items like appams, rotis, chutney, various gravies and also a fabulous dal makhani whose picture, I am so certain, I clicked but I can’t seem to find anymore.
The GM Mathew spent quite sometime with us, chatting about his experiences in India, his life in Delhi, we spoke about Khan chacha and the wimpy’s thick shakes. He also took us to a round of the property and I have to say its built with a class.
And how can we have a buffet without desserts I say.
Sigh don’t they look gorgeous.! I did many many many rounds to the dessert station just to have a look at them. Unfortunately I was so stuffed by the end of the meal that I couldn’t do justice to it but just look at them.
All in a all a great place to spend a chilled out Sunday afternoon with friends. Good food, great customization options and child friendly, to top it all.
