Mangalore In my Kitchen : Jane DSouza’s Delightful Cookbook : Curry Leaves Chutney

Curry leaves chutney made Mangalore style! It is delicious with dosas, idlis, paranthas and we even have it as a dip at home! A while ago I had posted that I am looking for some books exploring the Marathi cuisine. I got a lot of recommendations and at the same time Ruth told me about her mom's book which is basically a book  specialising in Mangalorean cuisine. Now, N is a huge fan of Mangalorean cuisine and the child has taken a big liking to it as well. But then they have 100% similar taste … [Read more...]

Chef J P Singh of Bukhara at The Royal Afghan, ITC Windsor

A delightful evening spent at The Royal Afghan, ITC Windsor! Once in a while comes along a meal that remains with you for a long long long time. A meal that you can't take out of your mind. In my case, it rarely happens to be a North Indian meal,  (though this wasn't exactly north Indian but more Frontier) but this was one of those. Last Friday I was invited for the preview of the revamp of the restaurant Royal Afghan, ITC Windsor. Royal Afghan is a 15 year old restaurant in ITC Windsor … [Read more...]

Leaping Windows Cafe : Where Comics, fun decor & food meet

Leaping Windows Cafe: A delightful place for food, comics and decor :) I have been hearing about Leaping Windows Cafe from sometime now. There are comics, there are fun cushions and there is good food. What's not to love when you are told that a place has all of those. Finally when I had to meet a friend for lunch and discuss something about "work", I decided that Leaping Windows Cafe might be a good bet. Leaping Windows Cafe is a warm, gorgeous place with mismatched furniture, cushions, … [Read more...]

Om Made Cafe, Kormangala

Om Made Cafe, Kormangala is a lovely place with some interesting food options! Imagine walking into something as gorgeous as above in the middle of mad Kormangala, spacious well lit, in fact open part open air, pretty tastefully done.     On a chilly Bangalore evening, it's a delight as it is on a winter sunny afternoon. Another thing that holds in favour of Om Cafe is that they have wine and needless to stay we started with some. Good rosette, Zinfandel Rose those who … [Read more...]

Flight of Cocktails at Like That Only, Whitefield

An interesting event called 'Flights of Cocktails' at Like That Only, Whitefield. Read all about it in this post. Sometime ago, Like That Only, Whitefield (LTO as it will be called in this post now) launched a few new cocktails and invited us bloggers to have a taste of those in an event they named "Flight of Cocktails" and rightly so. That evening, our taste buds experienced a new high when it came to alcohol.  I always complain that, in Bangalore, people who love cocktails are short changed.  … [Read more...]

Photo Review : Aquafest 2013, Karavalli

A delightful Aquafest 2013 at Karavalli! Beautiful food and wonderful time spent there! I was recently invited to the annual sea food festival of Karavalli. Brilliant food, great conversations and a very humble chef. Had a great time and here is a pictorial review for you.     Jasmine water to clean your hands before you start!   Chutneys and pickles and I love those black jars!     Jaggery to cleanse and freshen your palette. … [Read more...]

Citibank Restaurant Week India Preview : Republic of Noodles (Lemon Tree, Ulsoor)

A beautiful evening spent at Republic of Noodles (Lemon Tree, Ulsoor)! In the festivals that run, RWI is one of the oldest and in my opinion one of the most organised one too. Reservations for this year's RWI opened for Citibank's customers yesterday and open for general public on 18th i.e tomorrow. I was invited for a preview dinner for the same sometime ago and when I saw the list I so wanted Alto Vino which was predictably grabbed by Ruth, the most prompt and organised among us.  But, never … [Read more...]

Review : Arbor Brewing Company

Arbor Brewing Company - An interesting evening out at a micro brewery! So when the child was traveling to his granny's house for 3 weeks, among the top things (the list of things to do was pretty long in case you are wondering) to do, was an evening out at a micro brewery. We have both done it on our own, but somehow, never been able to do it together.  So one evening, we trotted to Arbor Brewing Company since I had heard such good things about it and we both hadn't tried it. ABC (which is what … [Read more...]
