Musk Melon Salad with Cranberries & Feta Cheese has all my favourite ingredients in it. It spells summer in such a happy way. It is a salad you will be making again and again all through the summer.
A good Melon salad is a delightful way to eat the summer fruit, whether they are made with musk melon or watermelons. Typically in summer, I eat way more salads than I do in winter. The heat really gets to me and the idea of cooked, heavily spiced meals is not very exciting.
As a result, I end up putting everything I like in salads. Whatever fruits I have, some vegetables and my summer lunch meal is ready. I typically end up making something else almost on a daily basis and some of them make it here (and a lot of them make it to instagram here. What I really enjoy is looking at stuff and then throwing things together to make a light and summery salad. May be I will do a post around the basic principles of making a salad soon. A post that will help you all to create your own salads apart from seeing recipes.
This melon salad for me checks all the ticks in the flavour department. The sweetness of musk melon is balanced by the tart cranberries, slightly bitter arugula leaves, the sharpness of freshly ground mustard and a hint of chilli. All this with creamy and salty feta cheese (which is one of my most favourite cheese ever as you can probably tell by so many feta cheese recipes on the blog already) makes it just perfect.
I think you could make this with watermelon as well, the combination of watermelon and feta is a killer one anyways. But I think the colours in this one make it look so pretty. I almost didn’t want to eat it 🙂
So without further delay, here is the recipe. If you make it don’t forget to share the picture with me. It makes me so happy to know that people are cooking from the blog. Just tag #sinamon on various social media – twitter, facebook and instagram and I will try and find you.
