Mou Taverna : Saturday Brunch at Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwanthpur

A delightful Saturday brunch option at Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwanthpur called Mou Taverna!

Couple of weeks ago, an email landed in my mailbox announcing the launch of Saturday brunch at Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwanthpur and I smiled to myself thinking “oh, finally someone heard me”. I have spent a lifetime (well, I know exaggerate) hoping someone would come up with a Saturday brunch. A place where one could chill, eat and drink on a Saturday. Sundays are good but the Sunday brunches started at a time when it was only the Sunday that was off. Considering the times we are in now, I like to party on a Saturday and then chill out on a Sunday and the Mou Taverna experience atVivanta by Taj, Yeshwanthpur promises just that.

Vivanta by Taj

So coming Saturday, we charted off to Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwanthpur with some friends to experience the brunch. The brunch buffet is primarily Mediterranean with a very interesting concept of a small market place incorporated. One could buy carpets, herbs, fresh vegetables and cheese (which was very very reasonably priced).

The food, specially the dips and salads, were exceptional and as I always end up doing in a buffet and specially for Mediterranean food, this is what I ate the most of that day.  The plating of the small plates, nibbles was so pretty it’s unfortunate that I don’t have many pictures of show for. Very clever use of tall and shot glasses with flavours backing up the plating. It really was a winning combination.

There were also hot grills, kebabs and some hot starters. The crumb fried prawns were what was winning the rounds of being everyone’s favorite though I really wonder if it belonged to the Mediterranean fare but then buffets and brunches are typically a mish mash anyways.

There is a little something for kids as wel,l in terms of entertainment.  A small Chennapatna toy store where every kid will find something for himself and then there was caricature artist in the house.

Frankly I skipped the mains but I did hear some good things about the fish. The reason I skipped mains was that I wanted to focus on the star of the day. The desserts, you can’t blame me. This is the plate I walked into, one of our friends starting his meal with desserts. Just look at that kettle. Green tea mousse inside it. What’s not to love.

And the desserts stood up to the looks as well. There was a exceptional raspberry and chocolate dessert that I took second helping of.

This buffet is priced at Rs 1800 AI for the alcoholic and Rs 1600 AI for a non-alcoholic brunch and I think at that price its worth every bit!
