Exploring Pondicherry – My experience of exploring this quaint little French town – Food and travel excite me more than anything ever, and this town won over my heart with it’s charm and absolutely magnificent food!
Pondicherry has always excited and attracted me but for some strange reason me and the city have played hide and seek with each other for the longest time. I have planned a trip so many times but every time something or the other will come and I will end up cancelling the trip. It is like the trip was so jinxed and hence I decided I will stop planning for it and then suddenly a few weeks ago, Me and N on a Wednesday morning decided to make that trip happen the very next day. We had no planning whatsoever, I had never been to the city before and we had a day to get everything sorted from accommodation to the most important thing on my list always – What to eat 🙂
In the middle of the working day with many meetings lined up, my new fast and light browser Opera Mini came to my rescue. From booking an airbnb to looking up for places to eat, Opera Mini helped me browse faster in a patchy network conditions and helped me save data as well. Opera Mini is 64% faster than UC browser and 72% faster than Chrome. To top it all, it helps save 2 times more data than UC browser and 3.5 times more data than Google Chrome.
It was so easy to browse and select where to stay using Opera Mini. We booked an airbnb place and it was confirmed pretty fast and off we went on Thursday morning
Pondicherry is the land of lovely beaches and this was the view from where we were staying.
How can one not fall in love with this? How can one not soak in that water and feel the sand beneath the feet. We spent the day soaking in the feel of sea, relaxing with the calm sound of water and waves and then wondered what else to do. Ofcourse the Maitri Mandir was in the list and a quick search on Opera Mini helped us with the timings and other stuff.
There is a certain calmness and happiness one feels when we are inside the Auroville area of Pondicherry, it is a feeling that is hard to describe but has to be experienced. There is also certain coolness about the place with lots of fantastic bakeries and other food joints in the area. Infact I ate one of the best croissants in the recent times at a cafe called “Bread and Chocolate” that I went back a second time to pack some for the drive back home. It increased my love for croissants to an extent that I would love to make some on my own. The discover section on Opera Mini helped me cull out the best recipe for croissants.
There is so much Pondicherry offers in terms of food to culture to beach that I feel one trip is not enough, we explored whatever we could in 2 days but I am heading back soon armed with my new browser to cover everything I missed this time.
I also have to tell you about the contest Opera is holding right now.
