Palak Dhokla : Steamed Spinach Lentil Cakes

This Palak Dhokla is another attempt of mine to make our breakfasts as nutritious as possible - The flavoursome combination of palak and the dhokla is such a delight to bite into, the addition of crunchy tadka taking it to another level altogether! Breakfast is something that I try to make myself everyday, because I always end up having a working lunch, most days, in a hurry, so I really *need* to work on packing enough nutrition into an easily to make recipe, because I am so not a morning … [Read more...]

The year that went by and the year to come

The year that went by and my plans and aspirations for the New coming year! The year that went by has been very nice in matters concerning the kitchen. As a SAHM, this year gave me more time and opportunities to cook which is something I have always enjoyed.  The highlight of the last year most certainly has been the baking course that I did from Institute of Baking and Cake Art. Most of the things I learnt were the things I knew anyway, but the course added a whole new dimension to my hobby. … [Read more...]

Thulped

My delightful experience with Cafe Thulp! Totally Thulped! I normally don't do a lot of restaurant reviews though I do visit many new ones.. Only when one of it has left a lasting impression do I write about it, whether they made me very happy with the food or totally pissed me off. But I did get thulped with this one :) Cafe Thulp surely comes in the first category :) Yesterday night, N and I were in the mood of eating a burger and Ojas wanted to eat pasta. We were wondering where to go so … [Read more...]

Rosemary Potatoes

Rosemary Potatoes - The name itself sounds so delicious! Baby potatoes in fresh rosemary with some cherry tomatoes to add to the flavor and colour! Who doesn't love the humble potato and I absolutely adore it in its baby form! Though I try hard to stay away from them, it sure is a task in itself! So when I chanced upon this recipe of rosemary potatoes, while doing some online browsing, I knew this was a dish which had to be made ASAP :) And I am glad I did make it because it was absolutely … [Read more...]

Bread Kofta Biryani and more

Bread Kofta Biryani is a perfect vegetarian biryani with the deliciousness of koftas! I love biryanis and this bread kofta biryani made me realise that vegetarian biryanis are yummy too!   I often claim that veg biryani is a term meant to make vegetarians happy and there is no such thing like that. Its just a modified form of pulao, but then once in a while, a recipe like this comes and proves me wrong ;-) When I first saw this sometime ago in Tarala Dala's book, it excited … [Read more...]

Comfort food at its best! This Broken Wheat Khichdi (or Daliya Khichdi) is the ultimate comfort food. Full of health and delicious to eat, this is a perfect one pot meal! Lately, in my search of healthy things to eat, the standard namkeen daliya and khichdi have met together, to create this broken wheat khichdi for me.
